Thanksgiving Cornucopia

The Cornucopia, or The Horn of Plenty, was adopted from Greek mythology for British harvest festivals and, later, our own Thanksgiving.  To build your own ancient symbol of abundance, follow our simple instructions.

Materials:

  • Wicker Cornucopia (You will probably need to order this online, as many stores do not carry these)
  • Fruit (Either real or artificial)
  • Gourds (Either real or artificial)
  • Flowers (Fresh, dried, or artificial)
  • Wire Cuttersimage

Instructions:

  1. Trim the flowers from their stem so that you can use them individually.image
  2. Layer the flowers in the bottom and along the sides of the cornucopia.image
  3. Place a layer of fruits and gourds on top of the flowers.image
  4. Continue layering until the cornucopia is filled.image
  5. Finally, layer the fruits and flowers outward from the horn. The idea behind the cornucopia is abundance, so it should be overflowing.image

Happy Thanksgiving!
